At approximately 10:05 p.m. police were called to the area of 22nd and Washington Streets for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived at the scene, officers were then directed to Wilmington Hospital where they were told a stabbing victim had just arrived.
The victim, identified as 19-year-old Maurice Allen of the 400 block of Bethune Drive in New Castle, became involved in an argument with the suspect on the corner of McCabe Avenue and Monroe Street. During the argument, the suspect pulled out a kitchen knife from his waistband and stabbed the victim in the chest.
Witnesses put the victim in a vehicle and transported him to the hospital.
The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
